Product Description
For realistic training, pilots flying aircraft equipped with the AIM-9B Sidewinder missile needed a target rocket. The USAF developed the TDU-11/B, comprising an inert 5 inch rocket, fitted with a Mk26 illuminating head and two sets of W112B flares. The missile could be launched from the standard Sidewinder rail which greatly simplified training.
We have confirmed that the system was used by the USAF (F-100, F-4), Luftwaffe (F-104), RoCAF (F-104) and RAAF (Mirage IIIO). It is highly likely it was used by other F-4, F-100 and F-104 operators. Photos of the missile are rare and the color schemes below are the only one we have seen.
This set includes two missiles fitted with the Mk 26 head and the AERO-3b launch rail.
This High Planes accessory set includes two 3D printed missiles. Before using, the parts should be washed with laundry detergent and primed with spray primer. Priming and light sanding may be needed to remove print strata marks.
