High Planes Models was founded in Australia in the early 1990s with the aim of producing subjects not covered by the major manufacturers. It was a pioneer of what is now known as "limited run" injection moulding using relatively low cost tooling and low pressure injection moulding techniques.
From the beginning, High Planes has built a reputation for accuracy and refined detail. The trade-off is that the limited run kits need some patient clean up before assembly. Almost every review notes this, and some observant reviewers also note that the moulds are designed so the sprues connect on joining surfaces, so removing parts does not damage the detail.
To reach a larger High Planes has now started producing scale model kits using traditional injection moulding tooling. These will continue to maintain the same attention to accuracy while being somewhat easier to assemble.
